IN-FLIGHT VIDEOS SEEN BY MILLIONS PROMOTE TOYS, PLAY AND TOTY 2015

Throughout the month of December, 2.1 million passengers on 17,000 United Airlines flights are being treated to an in-flight entertainment video created by TIA, highlighting the benefits of play as well as the great gift ideas found among the TOTY Award finalists. An additional 1.1 million passengers will viewsimilar content on 10,000 Virgin America flights throughout December and January.

 “When you give the gift of toys, you are giving the gift of creativity and sparking kids’ imaginations, making anything possible,” said Ken Seiter, TIA’s vice president of strategic communications. “This new airline campaign allows us to remind millions of travelers of the importance of play at a time when many consumers are thinking of purchasing toys for kids on their holiday shopping lists.
The videos encourage viewers to visit www.toyawards.org to learn about this year’s TOTY finalists —some of the hottest toys for the holidays — and vote for their favorites now through January 11th. Category winners, including the overall Toy of the Year and People’s Choice awards, will be announced during the 2015 TOTY ceremony on Friday, February 13th in New York City.

As part of TIA’s larger promotion of TOTY 2015, the Association showcased each of the 83 TOTY finalists across all 12 categories during its “12 Days of TOTY” campaign on Facebook and Twitter, which ran from December 8th through December 19th.

“We are proud to shine a spotlight on the innovative products that our industry produces each year, as well as the diverse ways that these toys and games help kids grow and flourish,” Seiter said.
