ICTI WEBSITE UPDATED TO REFLECT KEY DISCUSSION ITEMS AT 40TH ANNUAL ICTI MEETING IN TOKYO
April 1, 2014 | Representatives of national toy trade associations from around the world will convene in Tokyo, Japan next week for the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI) 40th Annual General Meeting. Hosted by the Japan Toy Association, the April 6-9 meeting will explore issues currently affecting the worldwide toy industry – including the global economy and barriers to trade, safety standards, marketing to children and environmental sustainability.

In preparation for the meeting, each participating country has submitted a
State of the Industry Report to be discussed during the proceedings. The U.S. Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) State of the Industry Report addresses key issues that impacted the North American toy industry in 2013, and covers toy safety; chemicals in toys; e-connected toys vs. traditional toy sales; the environment; marketing to children; Intellectual Property Rights; toy fairs; philanthropy; initiatives promoting the value of play; and other information. The report also identifies chemical regulation and third party testing burdens as top issues affecting the U.S. toy industry last year.

A summary document containing highlights of each country’s report will be posted for public viewing on the ICTI website in the coming days. With the exception of the publically available
U.S. report, individual country reports may be viewed in full by ICTI Members only.

Additional public resources for the international toy community will be updated on the
ICTI website in the days leading up to and immediately following the Annual General Meeting, including: International Standards, a directory of international toy standards and associated contact details; Calendar of Global Toy Industry Events, which will house information about toy industry events taking place around the world in 2014; and ICTI Member Contact Information, which will include the most up-to-date contact information for each ICTI member.

Each of the above resources is available at
www.toy-icti.org.  For current global toy industry news, visit the News section
 of the ICTI website.

TIA is a founding member of ICTI and manages the organization's secretariat responsibilities.
